NEVADA, which was restless in the stalls, jumped outwards and made contact with KIRUMBO. WINTER TRADE jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. LANE FROST dropped its head as the start was effected losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. PANGA PANGA, which was restless in the stalls, took an awkward stride as the start was effected. In view of the performance from NEVADA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. PANGA PANGA was carried wide around the bend by NEVADA, which was hanging out. NEVADA continued to hang out badly and carried SAINT DONAN very wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. When questioned regarding the performance from PANGA PANGA today, Jockey van Niekerk explained to the Board that after he had been carried out around the bend the gelding had taken no interest and he had felt something amiss in the latter stages. Assistant Trainer Mrs Robinson, acting on behalf of Trainer Bass, was requested to report back to the Board should she find anything untoward with the gelding on its return to the stables. Jockey van Niekerk was reminded of his obligation to report to the Board anything which may have affected his mounts performance. SOLAR NIGHT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey du Plooy rode FIRE MASTER. This change was made in due time with Stewards' permission and with the mutual consent of all the connections. Vet: NEVADA and SAINT DONAN - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise.
