The start of this race was delayed due to a Handler needing medical attention and having to be transported to the medical centre. This Race could not be started until the ambulance had returned to the start. Thereafter once the loading process had begun, SAMMY SILVER preampted the start and broke through the front gates. This resulted in SON OF APPROVAL also breaking through. Both horses were restrained by their riders, returned to the start, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded which caused a further delay. The Starting Stall Certificate for SAMMY SILVER has been withdrawn. He was suspended for a period of seven days until recertified tractable on a raceday. CHAMPIONS CUP was slow into stride. ROYAL MASTER had to ease momentarily approaching the 1400m when awkwardly placed on the inside of SUNDARI. Jockey van Rensburg, the rider of SUNDARI, had his crop accidentally struck from his hand at approximately the 100m by Apprentice Mjoka, the rider of CHAMPIONS CUP. Thereafter SUNDARI had to ease off the heels of CHAMPIONS CUP, which shifted out. Apprentice Mjoka was charged with a contravention in that he, as the rider of CHAMPIONS CUP, failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to SUNDARI, when he shifted out in the concluding stages. Apprentice Mjoka signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. RESOLUTE CAPTAIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GYPSY'S INN raced with a tongue tie on. Scratched: ARPAD - cast in box.
