The start of this Race was delayed due to SOFT SAND proving difficult to load. MS HOLLY GOLIGHTLY was slow losing 1 length. SOFT SAND was stubborn loading and slow into stride. Stable Employee Oosthuizen was advised to re-school this mare prior to her next engagement. Apprentice Ngcobo reported that SOFT SAND made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Apprentice Murray reported that he felt something amiss with ROCK OF FIRE in running. LIKENESS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding the improved performance of LIKENESS, Trainer Miller explained to the Board that the run on the 20th of June 2016 was a first run on the surface with him, the extra 200m distance and the filly racing to the front accounted for the improvement. Trainer Miller was advised to race this filly in a similar manner in future. LINGERIE raced without a tongue tie. SWIZZLE STICK raced equipped with alumites in front and unshod behind. Vet: SOFT SAND - no respiratory noise detected post race. ROCK OF FIRE - not striding out left front.
