There was a delay to the start of the 5th Race as a result of the farrier having to replace the left front shoe on EXECUTIVE POWER at the start. SABADELL, STOLEN DESTINY and TUSCAN (ARG) were all slow into stride. KISS ME HARDY and NEVER SETTLE both lost 1 length. PURPLE MOUNTAINS and STOLEN DESTINY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. TEAM GUYS (AUS) was hanging out on the bend, shifted out near the 800 metre mark resulting in SABADELL becoming inconvenienced. Thereafter TEAM GUYS (AUS) raced wide on the bend. Apprentice Ngwane, the rider of TEAM GUYS (AUS), appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take stronger measures to ensure that his mounts do not shift ground in races in future. SABADELL was momentarily baulked near the 250 metre mark and thereafter near the 200 metre mark. SABADELL was switched in to obtain a clear run near the 50 metre mark. CATKIN became cramped for a number of strides near the 150 metre mark. STOLEN DESTINY was switched out off the heels of PURPLE MOUNTAINS to obtain a clear run near the 150 metre mark. Apprentice Hewitson, the rider of KAPITAN, did not claim an apprentice allowance. The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Marcus was wheezing and stood down. Vet: NEVER SETTLE - not striding out left hind.
