BUDAPEST was presented with a companion prior to the 1st Race for recertification after the starting stall certificate had been withdrawn on the 2.7.2016. This gelding was passed tractable. Jockey Yeni did not ride at today's meeting (injured back). The Medical Officer reported that Jockey Marcus was reassessed today and fit to ride. Jockey David submitted a clearance from the Mauritius Turf Club after having ridden there on the 11th June 2016. Apprentice Hewitson no longer claims an apprentice allowance. SKIP THE RED, SPUN OUT (AUS) and THE SLADE all lost 1 length. STEP UP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Marshall was questioned regarding the improved performance of STEP UP, the winner, compared to this colt's previous run on the 11th June 2016. Mr Marshall attributed that performance to this colt over-racing early and having to race wide throughout without cover. This explanation was confirmed by the patrol video and the Stipendiary Board are satisfied with his explanation. THE SLADE raced green throughout. THE BOXSTER was hanging out, shifted out approaching the 250 metre mark. Thereafter THE BOXSTER continued to shift out approaching the 100 metre mark, carrying SECRET CAPTAIN outwards slightly. In view of the performance of ROCKEFELLER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Vet: ROCKEFELLER - nothing obvious detected. ZELIG - cut into right hind.
