GATHERING FAME and JET INTOMBI were both slow into stride. ZANTE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CHRISTMAS CAROL was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. TRICIA DUPONT over-raced for a short distance approaching the 1600 metre mark. DEPUTY RYDER was hanging in, in the final straight, shifted in and then straightened near the 50 metre mark. Thereafter DEPUTY RYDER shifted in slightly at the finish resulting in JET INTOMBI becoming cramped, making contact with the inside running rail and becoming severely unbalanced, almost dislodging Apprentice Godden. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine JET INTOMBI. Jockey Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with AVENTURINE in the final straight. In view of the performance of TRICIA DUPONT, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Merit racing for AVENTURINE is now 69 (winner 13.7.2016). AVENTURINE carried 52.5kgs and not 50kgs as carded. Vet: JET INTOMBI - not striding out left hind. TRICIA DUPONT and AVENTURINE - nothing obvious detected.
