PENA PALACE was slow losing one length. QUEEN OF ROCK and CALYPSO were slow into stride. SOFT SAND proved difficult to be equipped with a tongue tie which resulted in this mare being subsequently scratched. At approximately the 600m UPROAR was bumped by CALYPSO, which was carried in by MONTE CARLO PLAYER, which rolled in marginally. Jockey Habib reported that he felt something amiss with UPROAR in running and eased this filly out of the race at approximately the 400m. In view of the performance of NATIONAL SYMBOL, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. MADAME LE ROI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MONTE CARLO raced without a tongue tie. Vet: UPROAR and NATIONAL SYMBOL - not striding out right front. Scratched: SOFT SAND - the tongue tie and blinkers were unable to be fitted. Stable Employee Oosthuizen was advised that he should take the necessary measures in order to ensure that this mare is able to be presented correctly equipped. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
