CAPTAIN QUICK pulled its right front shoe during loading which was refitted by the Course Farrier thereby delaying the start. THE CAT broke the front gate momentarily before the start was effected and a false start was called. All the horses were returned to the start, checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. THE CAT was restless in the stalls and reared. PIONEER SPIRIT was slow away and lost 2 lengths. NORDIC JET was slow into stride. In view of the Starter's report, THE CAT is to be re-schooled in the starting stalls prior to racing again. Approaching the 400 metre mark RAHVAR and THE CAT brushed, BRAVE VISION and KING OF THE CASTLE, to their inside, became cramped for galloping room and KING OF THE CASTLE eased for several strides passing the 400 metre mark. SEYMOUR, racing behind, eased off the heels of KING OF THE CASTLE and was continuously baulked for a clear run up to the 100 metre mark. Apprentice Bantam, Apprentice Murray and Jockey Zechner reported they felt something amiss with mounts PIONEER SPIRIT, ELUSIVE SEVEN and FLAMING ACE respectively. ACAPULCO and NORDIC JET were baulked for several strides approaching the 400 metre mark, thereafter NORDIC JET switched out for a clear run. RAHVAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SEYMOUR raced equipped with steel shoes. Vet: PIONEER SPIRIT - abrasion right fore, pre-race fit. Post race, nothing obvious detected. ELUSIVE SEVEN - not striding out. KING OF THE CASTLE - overreach right fore. FLAMING ACE - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ROAD TO INDY - lame right fore. EVEN SO - coughing.
