GREEK LEGEND, RIO DE LA PLATA and OH BOY were all slow into stride. SYLVESTER THE CAT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Howells was questioned regarding the improved performance of SYLVESTER THE CAT, the winner, compared to his previous run on the 2nd July 2016. Mr Howells explained to the Board that in this gelding's previous run SYLVESTER THE CAT had raced to the front from a wide draw which had resulted in him compounding in the latter stages. Today he had been better drawn and therefore easier for him to race to the front. He was further of the view that the quality of the field today was of a weaker calibre to that of his previous run on the 2nd July 201. His explanations were noted. Due to the performances of SILVER SPRING and OH BOY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. ARCTICA was hanging out over the final 300 metres. Approaching the 150 metre mark ARCTICA shifted outwards, simultaneously SYLVESTER THE CAT shifted out independently. These runners brushed lightly at approximately the 50 metre mark. An Objection was lodged by Jockey Delpech, rider of the second placed horse, ARCTICA, against the winner, SYLVESTER THE CAT, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board after hearing all the evidence were of the view that the outwards movements were independent and therefore over-ruled the Objection, refunded the deposit and allowed the Judge's result to stand. DOUBLE CLUTCH raced with his tongue tied down. Vet: SILVER SPRING and OH BOY - nothing obvious detected.
