The start of this Race was delayed due to IMPACT ZONE having to be re-saddled at the start and thereafter BEFORE NOON, DEPOSITION and SEA SPONGE were removed from the stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and re-loaded. BEFORE NOON and SEA SPONGE were kicking in the stalls, removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and re-loaded. BEFORE NOON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Pieterse, the rider of KHEELAN DYNASTY, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. I FLY was pulling hard in the early stages. In view of the performances of PRINCE ARDENT and BELLE OF PARIS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. Jockey Mgudlwa signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction to Guideline M, in that whilst riding SEA SPONGE, he used his crop more than 12 times in this Race. The Board in determining the penalty considered the manner in which Jockey Mgudlwa used the crop. He was fined. Vet: PRINCE ARDENT - nothing obvious detected. BELLE OF PARIS - not striding out right fore.
