GIFTED FOR GLORY, which was restless in the stalls, dropped its head down shortly before the start was effected. In view of the performance from GIFTED FOR GLORY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Herholdt reported that LAURIE'S GOLD did not stride out in the latter stages. MY WORLD was forced to ease approaching the 1000m when ASHTON PARK, which over-raced in the early stages, shifted in. Jockey Domeyer, the rider of ASHTON PARK, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MY WORLD when he shifted in at the 1000m. Jockey Domeyer signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. Jockey Orffer was charged with a contravention in that he weighed back in more than 1kg over the weight at which he was declared out at. Jockey Orffer signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. WAITING FOR RAIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ASHTON PARK - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. GIFTED FOR GLORY - returned striding short on the right fore and was coughing. LAURIE'S GOLD and CAN COPE - returned coughing. Scratched: READY TO ATTACK - sold without engagement.
