The start of this Race was delayed due to previous race delays. TRIP TO RIO refused to load. NIGHT SHADOW lost one length. LIVE ON THE MOON lost two lengths. HYAKU was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Tarentaal, the rider of NIGHT SHADOW, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. JUDDERING ANGEL and PREMIER CHANCE over-racing in the early stages. Jockey Lerena reported that SHIMMERING BROOK was changing legs continuously in running. PURE VALOR was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. PURE VALOR was not persevered with in the latter stages. In view of this, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. In view of the Starter's report concerning TRIP TO RIO, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, in that as the rider of HYAKU, he used his crop in an unnecessary manner by striking this gelding with excessive frequency in the closing stages. Vet: PURE VALOR - nothing obvious detected. SHIMMERING BROOK - not striding out right fore. Scratched: WHAT A POET (AUS) - change of date. BOY BOY - transport complications /change of date. ASPARA - sold without engagement. TRIP TO RIO - refused to load, withdrawn by the Starter. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
