VIKING VOYAGE stumbled shortly after the start was effected. LITTLE MO jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. Jockey Fortune reported that CARDINAL CALL did not stride out freely in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Assistant Trainer Katz, acting on behalf of Trainer Hodgson, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the gelding's condition on its return to the stables. In view of the performance from BOMBS AWAY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. MUSKETS 'N ROSES over-raced in the early stages. LITTLE MO was baulked for a number of strides approaching the 200m, behind a tiring MUSKETS 'N ROSES and thereafter switched out to continue his run. Jockey Cele was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C, in that he struck ICE STYLE more than three times on consecutive strides at the 300m. Jockey Cele signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. ICE STYLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: CARDINAL CALL and BOMBS AWAY - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
