RESPECTABLE REBEL stumbled leaving the stalls losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. SHEPHERDS PURSE was slow losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. EVEN BETTER was slow losing one length. CHESTNUT WILD raced in Club Colours. Jockey Orffer reported that ARGO SOLO changed stride continually in the straight. In view of the performance from EVEN BETTER, which was eased out of the race at about the 300m, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. HEART OF DARKNESS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: EVEN BETTER and ARGO SOLO - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
