Apprentice Murray (medically indisposed - awaiting documentation), Apprentice Ngcobo (medically indisposed - awaiting documentation), Jockey Sturgeon (gone to Mauritius - to be investigated) and Workrider Ndlovu (medically indisposed - awaiting documentation) did not ride at today's race meeting. They were replaced on their mounts. Jockey Greyling has not renewed his licence and was replaced on his mounts. SACRED LAGOON jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. Workrider Mthembu signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he used my crop with excessive frequency whilst riding the horse EWAN AGAIN. He was suspended from riding in one workriders' race. In view of the performance from JACKIE'S JOY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Trainer Moffatt was requested to report back on the condition of JACKIE'S JOY on return to the stables. When questioned regarding the improved performance of EWAN AGAIN, Trainer Moffatt explained to the board that in this filly's previous race the 2000m had been too far and she was better suited to the 1450m of today's race. Racing tactics had also been changed in that EWAN AGAIN had raced from a handier position today. Trainer Moffatt was advised that this filly's future performances will be monitored and if she proves to be inconsistent, she may be suspended. WASP was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. When questioned regarding this mare's poor performance on 24 July 2016, Trainer Alexander explained to the board that WASP had over-raced in the early stages and had returned with a mouth injury. She had raced against weaker company today and this had accounted for the improvement. This explanation was noted. SPANISH SECRET raced equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: JACKIE'S JOY - examined post race, no significant findings.
