FLAMING DESIRE (*T Gumede) was stubborn to load. Trainer K Naidoo was advised to re-school. Jockey T Godden reported that he felt something amiss with STARTLIGHTTEMPTRESS (26.95 lengths) in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In the concluding stages, SPRING LIGHTNING (S Randolph) switched in to continue its run. Jockey M Yeni reported that MAMBO LYRIC (10.95 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. At the 200m, FLAMING DESIRE (*T Gumede) shifted out away from the crop. Approaching the 1300m, NOBLE PRINCESS (*J Jacobs) had to ease when awkwardly placed on the inside of SPRING LIGHTNING (S Randolph) which eased and shifted in sharply when awkwardly placed on the inside of GLAD I AM (N Patel) and MAMBO LYRIC (M Yeni). In assessing this incident, after reviewing the patrol films and interviewing the riders concerned, culpability could not be placed on any rider to the requisite degree to sustain a charge. The riders were however advised to exercise more care. As a consequence of the above incident, NOBLE PRINCESS (*J Jacobs) raced detached from the field early, thereafter, finished its race off strongly. Trainer J V Rugg signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented GINGERSPATHTOGLORY in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this race. Accordingly a penalty of a warning was imposed. FLAMING DESIRE (*T Gumede) the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo advised (ML). Apprentice T Gumede (2.5kgs) was the rider of FLAMING DESIRE (reserve runner - advised 07h15/19.08.2020). SPRING LIGHTNING raced fitted with alumites both fore and unshod behind (advised 14h34/13.08.2020). MAMBO LYRIC did not race fitted with blinkers (advised 07h43/15.08.2020). STARLIGHTTEMPTRESS raced fitted with blinkers (advised 07h35/19.08.2020). VET : ROCK TO THE MUSIC : Cut into right hind. STARLIGHTTEMPTRESS : Nothing obvious detected. MAMBO LYRIC : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : LA FISTA FLYER : Elevated temperature (advised 07h13/19.08.2020). Rule 53.5 applies. POPOVA : Reserve runner. CLASS OF EIGHT : Reserve runner.
