Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of Race 8. SAILS SET cast the right fore shoe on the way to the start, which the farrier replaced at the start causing a delay. The tongue tie on HOISE THE MAST had to be refitted by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start causing a further delay. HOIST THE MAST, which was reluctant to load, was slow losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Trainer Nel will be advised to have this filly re-schooled before her next engagement. ROYAL CHIAN raced in Club Colours. Jockey van Niekerk reported that he felt something amiss with HOIST THE MAST in running. Apprentice van der Hoven reported that TUMBLES changed stride continually in running. GOLDANDSILVER became tightened for galloping room and was forced to ease, losing position at about the 500m. ROYAL CHIAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HOIST THE MAST - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. TUMBLES - returned not striding out on the left hind.
