LOVE TO GIVE (M Thackeray) was slow into stride. In view of the performance of ROSE DANCER (C Maujean) (distance 11,50 lengths, 9/2 betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey S Brown reported that he felt something amiss with SAMOA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. Notwithstanding that he won the race, Jockey S Khumalo failed to ride FEATHER THE NEST out for a number of strides from the 100m to the finish line. Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride FEATHER THE NEST out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Jockey S Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. FEATHER THE NEST (S Khumalo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (LN). VET: ROSE DANCER examined post race, nothing obvious detected. SAMOA not striding out left front ARABELLA QUEEN abnormal respiratory noise.
