DENNIS THE MENACE was slow losing one length. ZORTZIKO reared in the stalls. KAPELLMEISTER and WINE MASTER came together shortly after the start and bumped. Apprentice Hewitson was charged with a contravention in that he failed to keep his mount ANGEL'S POWER on a straight course parallel to the running rail and relative to the draw position until a point not less than 200 metres from the start. Apprentice Hewitson signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. ANGEL'S POWER was hanging out in the concluding stages. Apprentice Hewitson reported that ANGEL'S POWER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Jockey van der Merwe reported that WILLIAM NICOL changed stride continually in running. THRUST was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ANGEL'S POWER - abnormal respiratory noise and mild post-race distress. WILLIAM NICOL - not striding out right front. WINE MASTER - post race distress. Scratched: SKY HIGH FLYER - insufficient recovery time.
