JEWEL QUEST and VARIETY SPIRIT were slow into stride. GIRLFRIEND was difficult and proved reluctant to proceed to the start. Trainer Borman was advised that should this mare behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. Jockey Habib reported that JEWEL QUEST made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. In view of the performance from VARIETY SPIRIT, Trainer Smith was requested to report back on the condition of this filly on return to the stables. Jockey Simons reported that ZILNOX took no interest in running and did not persevere with his ride in the closing stages. ROCK A BYE BABY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JEWEL QUEST raced equipped with steel shoes in front, unshod behind. IMBALI raced without cheek pieces. GIRLFRIEND raced in Club colours. Vet: JEWEL QUEST - abnormal respiratory noise. ZILNOX - examined post race, no significant findings. Scratched: OPEN YOUR HEAT - off feed. UPROAR - lame right front.
