The start of the 1st Race was slightly delayed due to AKROTERION having to be removed from the starting stalls and checked by the Veterinary Surgeon before being reloaded. PURPLE SPLASH, NAUTICUS, ROY'S BULLET and STARWIN were slow into stride. RED APACHE was very restless in the starting stalls. AKROTERION was very restless and reared in the starting stalls. Thereafter AKROTERION was removed from the starting stalls, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. EXCLUSIVELY TRENDY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PURPLE SPLASH and NAUTICUS made contact shortly after the start was effected. NAUTICUS, ROY'S BULLET, A P COLOURS and DELECTABLE DESIRE raced green. QUEEN CHLOE was hanging out in the latter stages. DELECTABLE DESIRE was hanging in over the final 250 metres and shifted inwards in the latter stages. In view of the performance of RED APACHE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Winnaar reported PURPLE SPASH took no interest in running. PURPLE SPLASH returned post race having cast the right fore shoe. Jockey Lerena reported IJUBANE was changing legs continuously in running. STARWIN returned post race having cast the right fore shoe. In view of the Starter's report concerning RED APACHE and AKROTERION, the starting stall certificates for these geldings have been withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion. Vet: RED APACHE and IJUBANE - nothing obvious detected. PURPLE SPLASH - not striding out right hind.
