The start of the 8th Race was delayed as a result of the Veterinary Surgeon examining NATAL at the start, thereafter declared fit to race. UNBELIEVABLE CHAD lost 1 length. ASSTAR lost 4 lengths. STRUMMER was restless in the stalls and thereafter lost 1 length. LONDON CALL and PROMISSORY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. PROMISSORY was carried in slightly approaching the 200-metre mark by LONDON CALL. Thereafter PROMISSORY shifted in, carrying AL CIBERANO inwards. KAPITAN became momentarily cramped near the 150-metre mark. EXECUTIVE POWER was hanging in, in the latter stages. Jockey Forbes reported that he felt something amiss with ASSTAR in the latter stages. In view of the performances of NATAL and UNBELIEVABLE CHAD, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. FLYFIRSTCLASS returned post race having cast the left hind shoe. In view of the Starter's report concerning ASSTAR, the starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn until recertified to jump on terms with a companion. Vet: ASSTAR and UNBELIEVABLE CHAD - nothing obvious detected. NATAL - fatigued, blowing and coughing. Scratched: BARBOSA - jarred right fore knee. REDCARPET CAPTAIN - mouth abscess. HIGHWAY EXPLORER (AUS) - abscess left fore.
