SWEET REFRAIN was slow into stride. TOO COOL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. COURAGEOUS KING took no interest in running. Jockey Forbes reported that he felt something amiss with SWEET REFRAIN and as a result, he did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. In view of the performance of LORD LUTON, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. TOO COOL was hanging in over the final 500 metres. CHASING THE SUN was baulked for a number of strides passing the 400-metre mark. PATROCLUS was hanging out in the latter stages. COURAGEOUS KING returned post race having cast the left hind shoe. PETISCOS CHOOK raced with cheek pieces. Jockey Forbes was the rider of SWEET REFRAIN and this gelding raced with cheek pieces. Vet: COURAGEOUS KING - nothing obvious detected. LORD LUTON and SWEET REFRAIN - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: STOKVEL - cast in box.
