GUN SLINGER threw his head up losing one length. ROYAL ZULU GUARD (AUS) was slow into stride. BARCELONA BABE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROYAL UNION JET jumped inwards as the start was effected, carrying IMPACT ZONE inwards, resulting in IMPACT ZONE and BARCELONA BABE making contact and becoming unbalanced. As a result, SELVAN'S JET and ROYAL ZULU GUARD (AUS) became cramped and had to be eased. Approaching the 1600 metre mark, the saddle on ROYAL UNION JET slipped forward badly resulting in Apprentice De Gouveia racing wide on the bend and being unable to assist his mount. In view of the performances of ROYAL ZULU GUARD (AUS), YOUR WORSHIP and GUN SLINGER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. Vet: ROYAL ZULU GUARD (AUS) and YOUR WORSHIP - nothing obvious detected. GUN SLINGER - coughing. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
