The start of this Race was delayed due to the delay in the previous races. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SACRED BLUES (*K Strydom) and SILVER DAZZLE (G Wright) lost one length, respectively. b) SHEIK'S STORM (M Yeni) and IN JEST (S Veale) lost two lengths, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) COUNT DUBUCKS (*J Jacobs) was hanging in, in the concluding stages. b) At the 600m, IN JEST (S Veale) was carried out by MORE THAN A DIME (R Danielson) which rolled out. c) Apprentice J Gates reported that HAREER (13.20 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) ARIANOS SPINNER (W Kennedy) was hanging in, in the straight. e) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse IN JEST more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Veale struck the horse IN JEST, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed. f) ARRABIATA (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Kannemeyer advised (SC).
