THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LATE NIGHT LIVE (S Randolph) kicked the back gates. Trainer R Hill was advised to re-school this filly.
b) PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (R Fourie) fly-jumped, lost two lengths and thereafter, was slow into stride.
c) FEARLESS KNIGHT (M Khan) jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start, HIGHER PURPOSE (T Godden) was bumped out by FEARLESS KNIGHT (M Khan) which jumped out leaving the stalls. Thereafter, FEARLESS KNIGHT (M Khan) was eased when awkwardly placed on the inside of ALACRITAS (A Marcus) which rolled in.
b) In view of the performance of HIGHER PURPOSE (T Godden) (6.50 lengths, 14/10 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c) Jockey A Marcus reported that he felt something amiss with ALACRITAS (12.15 lengths, 11/10 in the betting) in the concluding stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning ALACRITAS, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer A Fortune was advised. (Suspension dates : 25.08.20 to the 23.10.20)
d) Trainer N Kotzen signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 8.3.1, in that he failed to ensure that the owners colours were available for the horse BRINGBACKTHEMONEY. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was issued.
e) DOUBLE RAINBOW (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Drier advised (SC).
