THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CARMELLA (A Arries) was stubborn to load and lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WISHFUL GIRL LINN (E Ngwane) was hanging out throughout. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse JACQUELINE more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey S Veale struck the horse JACQUELINE, the distance over which and manner in which Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) IRISH WONDER GIRL (W Kennedy), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
