NORTHERN BALLET, which was hanging out in the straight, shifted out and had to be straightened approaching the 200m. Thereafter IN LIMINE and NORTHERN BALLET shifted out independently in the concluding stages. Trainer Ennion and Jockey van der Hoven called for a race review and after viewing the patrol films, decided to take no further action. The saddle on PUT THE BERRIES slipped back in running placing Jockey van Niekerk at a disadvantage. Jockey Cheyne, which was hanging out in the straight, reported that he felt something amiss with ME MYSELF AND I in the latter stages and did not persevere with his riding. ELUSIVE ROSE and NORTHERN BALLET were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ME MYSELF AND I - returned with blood in her mouth. Scratched: LADY REDOUTE (AUS) - coughing.
