APPROVAL RATING was slow out of the starting stalls and lost half a length. LUCKY SAM pulled in the early and middle stages, raced to the front clear of the field, thereafter shifted inwards and, passing the 450-metre mark, brushed the inside running rail and compounded over the final 300 metres. LAVA FLOW was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. EURAKILON and CALL ME EARL raced in steels.
