The start of this Race was delayed due to the starting stalls having to be repositioned. Apprentice Hewitson reported that he felt something amiss with LAZER STAR in running. CROWN OF ROSES and BELLA SONATA came together at approximately the 300m and bumped when awkwardly placed between HOLLIE POINT, which rolled out marginally, and LAZER STAR. In the concluding stages, KILAUEA was carried in by VISUALITY, which was hanging in from the 200m. An objection was lodged by Trainer Nieuwenhuizen on behalf of the fourth-placed horse, KILAUEA, against the third placed horse, VISUALITY, on the grounds of taking up his running in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol films of the race and giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections of both horses, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result of the race and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judges' result to stand. Trainer Nieuwenhuizen's deposit was refunded. MELLA MARIA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. JOAN RANGER raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: LAZER STAR - not striding out left front; Trainer Azzie reported this mare in season. KILAUEA - post race distress. VISUALITY - coughing.
