The left side back gate of the stall closed onto the hindquarter of KING OF THE CORN while the gelding was being loaded, and became trapped. KING OF THE CORN was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start and had to be secured off the racecourse, before the start was effected, causing a delay. BAROSSA VALLEY was slow into stride In view of the performances from MR PISCATO and NABISCO, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the geldings on their return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. MR PISCATO was hanging out in the straight. Jockey Fortune, the rider of ROMAN DISCENT, appeared before the Board and was strongly advised to ride his mount out to the end of a race in future engagements. EXCLUSIVE KNIGHT clipped the heels of NABISCO at about the 900m. ROMAN DISCENT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MR PISCATO and NABISCO - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: KING OF THE CORN - withdrawn at the start, injured in starting stalls.
