GUNNER, THE KING OF RANDOM and BLING SWING were slow into stride. GREAT VALUE was difficult to load. Assistant Trainer Ferrie advised to re-school this gelding. GREAT VALUE jumped in making contact with the front gate and MARSHALL THAT, resulting in Jockey Veale being unbalanced and dislodged shortly after the start was effected. ROY'S MAGIC (AUS) and MY PAL AL were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. In view of the performances of SCENT OF THE TIGER, MARSHALL THAT and SARAH'S SECRET, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. A tiring SCENT OF THE TIGER became cramped between runners at approximately the 300-metre mark, losing position. SARAH'S SECRET, over-racing, became cramped for galloping room for a number of strides on the inside running rail at approximately the 1000 metre mark. Jockey de Melo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that he permitted Mr Lunn to act as a jockey's agent on his behalf when Mr Lunn was not registered to do so. Vet: SCENT OF THE TIGER - lame right fore. MARSHALL THAT and SARAH'S SECRET - nothing obvious detected.
