MAACHAAN (AUS) and BIG BIRD were slow into stride. VARIETY ROMP lost 1 length. GREATFIVEEIGHT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. DANCER IN THE DARK over-raced in the early stages. In view of the performance of DANCER IN THE DARK, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Jockey Delpech reported that HARRY DA WHEELS was not striding out freely in running. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning the withdrawal of SECOND LIEUTENANT, this gelding is suspended indefinitely pending the submission of a full veterinary report to the NHA and thereafter until galloped to the satisfaction of the NHA Veterinary Surgeon prior to being nominated again. SECOND LIEUTENANT did not race fitted with his tongue tied down. Vet: DANCER IN THE DARK and HARRY DA WHEELS - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: TEXICAN - not eating up. THE MONEY MAN - foot sore. SECOND LIEUTENANT - examined at the start and found to be not striding out right hind and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
