The start of the 6th Race was slightly delayed due to the Veterinary Surgeon re-fitting a tongue tie to CAROLINE'S CALL at the start. MISS NIGHTINGALE, BLACK CASHMERE and QUINTELLA were slow into stride. LA DI VAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee Simpkins was questioned regarding the improved performance of LA DI VAR, compared to this mare's previous run on the 25.9.2016. He explained to the Board that this mare was unsuited to the combination of the longer distance of 1400 metres and the yielding going that prevailed on that occasion. His explanations were noted. In view of the performance of QARMAN, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Apprentice Mbhele signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention in that, as the rider of CLASS ACT, he used his crop in an unnecessary manner by striking this filly with excessive frequency in the latter stages. Vet: QARMAN - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: IMPERIAL PARTY - transport breakdown. To be investigated by the Stipendiary Board.
