SHWANKY and CINNAMON WIND were stubborn loading. Jockey Maujean reported that WARM NIGHT ALICE did not stride out freely in running and did not persevere with his ride in the concluding stages. In the concluding stages SHWANKY, which shifted both ways away from the crop from the 200m, had to ease off the heels of QUEEN LAURIE, which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. A race review was called into this incident by a member of the Stipendiary Board, which was followed by Trainer Goosen, trainer of SHWANKY, placed second, lodging an objection against QUEEN LAURIE being declared the winner on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol films of the race and giving regard to the evidence put forward by the connections of both horses, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result of the race and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judges' result to stand. Trainer Goosen's deposit was refunded. QUEEN LAURIE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CARIBBEAN QUEEN raced in Club colours. WARM NIGHT ALICE raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: CARIBBEAN QUEEN - coughing. WELL DRESSED - abnormal respiratory noise. WARM NIGHT ALICE - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
