FORMAL REQUEST proved reluctant cantering to the start and Apprentice Mphanya had to be assisted by a number of Handlers, which caused a delay to the start of this race. Trainer Gray was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended SILVER KAVALIER and DRAGON'S BREATH were slow into stride. GOLDEN MAN jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. Apprentice Sakayi reported that WILD THING took no interest in running. DUTY DANCE shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. JUST A JAG was hanging in, in the concluding stages. Apprentice Juglall, the rider of SILVER KAVALIER, Apprentice Lerena, the rider of FORT EAGLE, Apprentice Mphanya, the rider of FORMAL REQUEST, and Apprentice Sakayi, the rider of WILD THING, all rode satisfactory qualifying rides. Apprentice Kotzen, the rider of DRAGON'S BREATH, rode an unsatisfactory qualifying ride. CRIMSON MAGIC was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Stipendiary Board reviewed Apprentice Ngwane's ride in the concluding stages and was satisfied that the Apprentice had ridden HARRY'S SILVER to the line. Vet: GAISCE GOLD - coughing. FLAG OF FRANCE - not striding out left hind. HARRY'S SILVER - abnormal respiratory noise. FORMAL REQUEST and WILD THING - examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
