AUCTION KING was difficult to load, and thereafter lost 1 length. Assistant Trainer Byrnes advised to re-school this gelding. LAST TIGER, CAT IN COMMAND, MR WINSOME and WHAT A POET were slow into stride. Approaching the 200-metre mark NICKLAUS (BRZ) was hanging out and shifted out carrying THIRTYTWO SQUADRON outwards and bumping and unbalancing THIRTYTWO SQUADRON on several occasions up until inside the 100-metre mark. This resulted in RUN RHINO RUN being carried outwards slightly and DANCE ON AIR becoming cramped for galloping room and having to switch in. LAST TIGER, who was racing on the outside of DANCE ON AIR, became cramped for galloping room and was forced to ease shortly inside the 100-metre mark. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board as well as by Jockey Forbes, the rider of RUN RHINO RUN. This was followed by an Objection lodged by a Stipendiary Steward on behalf of the second-place horse THIRTYTWO SQUADRON, against the winner, NICKLAUS (BRZ), on the grounds of interference in the closing stages. The Board after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, hearing all the evidence and considering the distance of 0.25 lengths was of the opinion that, but for the interference, THIRTYTWO SQUADRON would have beaten NICKLAUS (BRZ) and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judge's result. NICKLAUS (BRZ, placed second on an Objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CAT IN COMMAND raced fitted with pacifiers. Vet: AUCTION KING - mouth injury.
