PREMIERS CHAMPION STAKES (Grade 1) (For 3 year-olds)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NOURBESE (S Randolph) was stubborn to load. b) CATCH TWENTYTWO (G Lerena) was stubborn to load. Trainer P Peter was advised to re-school. c) SENTBYDESTINY (D de Gouveia), CRIMSON KING (R Danielson) and FIGHT SONG (P Strydom) lost 1 length, respectively. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, FAST LOVE (G van Niekerk), PURE SOUTH (C Habib) and NATIVE TONGUE (R Fourie) were crowded for galloping room between the inside running rail and NOURBESE (S Randolph). b) In the concluding stages, FAST LOVE (G van Niekerk) lost position when it had to check to avoid the heels of TEMPTING FATE (S Veale) which was carried out marginally when positioned on the outside of NOURBESE (S Randolph) which shifted out away from the crop. When assessing this incident, the Stewards were of the opinion that NOURBESE (S Randolph) had shifted out away from the crop and had not been corrected by its rider and in so doing, so had been a source of interference to TEMPTING FATE (S Veale) as it was insufficiently clear when shifting ground. c) Jockey S Randolph signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of NOURBESE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to TEMPTING FATE (S Veale) and FAST LOVE (G van Niekerk) in the concluding stages. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 10 days was imposed with effect 30.08.2020 - 08.09.2020, both dates inclusive. d) At approximately the 1400m, KINGSLEY'S HEART (M Yeni) was carried in and PORTICO (W Kennedy) had to check when awkwardly placed on the inside of TEMPTING FATE (S Veale), which shifted in. e) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of TEMPTING FATE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to PORTICO (W Kennedy) and KINGSLEY'S HEART (M Yeni) at the 1400 metre mark. Accordingly, a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 10 days was imposed with effect 30.08.2020 - 08.09.2020, both dates inclusive. f) Leaving the 200m, PORTICO (W Kennedy) which had commenced to give ground, had to check when awkwardly placed between the heels of CRIMSON KING (R Danielson) and KINGSLEY'S HEART (M Yeni) which was brushed outwards by SENTBYDESTINY (D de Gouveia) which finished the race off strongly, improved and rolled out slightly. As a consequence, SENTBYDESTINY (D de Gouveia) was turned outwards when it made light contact with KINGSLEY'S HEART (M Yeni). The Stewards when assessing this incident, gave due consideration.
