Apprentice Thackeray and Jockey Zackey were examined by the Course Medical Officer and declared fit to ride. During the loading process, AL SAHEM reared and became wedged between gates 2 and 3 and had to be extricated by the starting stalls staff. Thereafter I AM TITANIUM was restless in the stalls, broke open the front gate, dislodged the rider and bolted. Both AL SAHEM and I AM TITANIUM were subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. These incidents caused a significant delay to the start of this race. As a result of this race 2 was rescheduled to 13:30. The starting stalls certificate for AL SAHEM has been withdrawn and it was suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable. The starting stalls certificate for I AM TITANIUM has been withdrawn and it was suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable. GLOBAL ICON was stubborn loading and restless in the stalls. The starting stalls certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn and it is suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable. FURIOSA (AUS), PROMISSORIA, TANDANA (AUS), DRUM FIRE and GOLDEN BABE were slow into stride. Jockey van der Merwe was fined by the Starter for a misdemeanour. The Stipendiary Board confirmed this fine. WESTERN WARRIOR was hanging in from the 200m. CAPTAIN MAROONED was carried in by ROMI'S BOY at the 200m. GLOBAL ICON shifted in sharply away from the crop from the 150m. Jockey Yeni signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for a contravention, read with Guideline G on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse GLOBAL ICON unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place. ROMI'S BOY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CAPTAIN MAROONED is a gelding. To be investigated. AL SAHEM proceeded to the start equipped with a tongue tie. I AM TITANIUM proceeded to the start equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: TIME TO BE GREAT - abrasions right hind hock from pens. Scratched: AL SAHEM - injured in pens. PILOU - respiratory disease. I AM TITANIUM - injured in pens. DAWNBREAKER - ineligible, winner 3 November 2016.
