Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this Race. HO'OPONOPONO lost one length. BIG KING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Schwarz, the rider of MR MCSTEAMY, dropped the right side rein at approximately the 200-metre mark, which he regained shortly thereafter. He then dropped the left side rein, which he regained shortly thereafter. Apprentice Habib reported that VARBRATION was not striding freely in running. Jockey Winnaar reported that he felt something amiss with HO'OPONOPONO in running. Apprentice Godden reported that ROY'S MARCIANO took no interest in running. BIG KING faltered badly in the pull-up area. Following this incident, the inside of the pull-up area was cordoned off. Vet: VARBRATION and HO'OPONOPONO - nothing obvious detected. ROY'S MARCIANO - coughing.
