Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of this Race. THE ROYAL RUMBA lost one length. RIO DE LA PLATA became restless as the start was effected, leaned back and lost two lengths. UNBELIEVABLE CHAD hesitated as the start was effected and lost four lengths. Trainer Lafferty was advised to re-school this gelding. PENHALIGON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Arries, the rider of MERCADO, had a satisfactory qualifying ride. The Stipendiary Board reviewed that the start of this Race with regard to UNBELIEVABLE CHAD and RIO DE LA PLATA and after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, confirmed that no horse was impeded and therefore declared all horses to be runners. RIO DE LA PLATA raced with a tongue tie. Scratched: REACTIVE - not eating up. Following the running of Race 7, a concern was raised by the riders with regard to a waterlogged area in the pull-up. A panel was formed and having inspected the area of concern namely the latter part of the polytrack and the transitional area to the turf, the Panel was of the unanimous view that the said area was not conducive to safe racing and therefore abandoned Race 8 and Race 9. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
