LEBEOANA and MAI THAIGA came together shortly after the start and bumped. At the 200m STONE PINE was carried out by IL PALIO, which rolled out marginally. Jockey Penny, the rider of BIG SHOT, and Jockey Wrogemann, the rider of PREMIER CHANCE, reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in running. Apprentice Thackeray reported that MAI THAIGA took no interest in running. Jockey Barnes, the rider of DODGY DUTCHIE, appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film of the race and advised against the practice of using his crop when his mount is out of contention for a place. Apprentice Ngcobo was questioned regarding his ride of EMBLEM HONOUR (AUS). He explained to the Board that turning for home this gelding was never traveling well, commenced to give ground to the field and, in his opinion, had resented the kickback. Apprentice Ngcobo was advised to ride his mounts with sufficient vigour and determination so as to leave the Stewards with no room for query. JAGUAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. EMBLEM HONOUR (AUS) raced equipped with alumites. Vet: BIG SHOT - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. PREMIER CHANCE - mild post race distress. MAI THAIGA - not striding out right front. DODGY DUTCHIE - post race distress.
