The start of this Race was delayed when LITTLE SWIFT, which was restless in the stalls, reared. As a result of this LAKAHAL broke through the front gate, was restrained by the rider, returned to the start, inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon, declared fit to race and reloaded. LITTLE SWIFT was subsequently withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. The starting stalls certificate for LITTLE SWIFT has been withdrawn and it was suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable. LAKAHAL jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. INVINCIBLE FLAME lost 1 length. Jockey van Rensburg reported that VARGO did not stride out freely in running. Shortly after the start LAKAHAL, which jumped in, and CAPTAIN'S GIRL, which jumped out, came together and bumped. In the concluding stages CAPTAIN'S GIRL, which was hanging in badly, had to ease when awkwardly placed between PIPKIN and LADY ON FIRE, which was hanging in. As a consequence of this CAPTAIN'S GIRL lost momentum and had to be regathered by Jockey Khumalo before being ridden to the line. The Board have adjourned to give this incident further consideration. PIPKIN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LADY ON FIRE carried 55.5kg and has a Merit Rating of 59. Vet: VARGO - not striding out right front. Veterinary report required prior to entry. BERDANINE - speedy cut left hind. BURGUNDY ROSE - coughing. Scratched: EFFORTLESS REWARD (AUS) - abnormal blood count. REBEL'S DIAMOND - coughing. LITTLE SWIFT - injured in the stalls. ALLORA - lame left front. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked and their identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
