LANCER stood losing many lengths. Trainer Kannemeyer will be advised that this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. BORN ON A BLUE DAY jumped awkwardly losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. JUDDERNAUT was restless in the stalls. Trainer Kotzen will be advised to have this colt re-schooled before its next engagement. The start was reviewed with regard to LANCER in stall gate 9, which was reluctant to jump when the start was effected losing many lengths. After reviewing the patrol films, the Board established that the colt had not been impeded and was declared to be a runner. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine LANCER on its return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Ashby, the rider of DEBT SETTLED, appeared before the Board with regard to this riding in the latter stages. He explained to the Board that the gelding had raced awkwardly and had hung out badly throughout. When he had attempted to straighten DEBT SETTLED, the gelding changed legs, shifted in sharply at about the 150m and thereafter was difficult to assist to the finish. The Board was satisfied with his explanation. BLACK PARROT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. FINN'S REBEL raced fitted with a tongue tie. Vet: LANCER - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. BORN ON A BLUE DAY - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise.
