TAB PAYS THE FULL DIVIDEND, NO LIMITS (MR 82) HANDICAP

The start of this Race was delayed due to the 30 minute interval between races. PALE LILAC was slow into stride. OPEN FIRE and COYOTE CREEK were nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 1 length, respectively. HARD CORE was nervous in the stalls. At the 200m and 100m, SELAILAI raced in close proximity, to OPEN FIRE, which was hanging in from the 400m. After reviewing the patrol films of the race, Jockey Andrews, the rider of the second placed horse, SELAILAI, lodged an objection against the winner, OPEN FIRE, on the grounds of interference and intimidation from the 300m. After considering the evidence in the matter, the Objection Board overruled the objection and declared Jockey Andrews' deposit forfeited. In arriving at this decision, the Objection Board considered that, at no point did Jockey Andrews stop riding as a consequence of the above 'incident', the lack of any evidence to support a loss and/or visible loss of momentum by SELAILAI, the distance of 0.50 between SELAILAI and OPEN FIRE at the finish and that from the footage, it appeared that OPEN FIRE was always holding SELAILAI in the finish. Accordingly, the Objection Board was of the opinion that, it could not be satisfied that but for the above incident, SELAILAI would have beaten OPEN FIRE. Additionally, it was of the view that there was no reasonable prospect of success in Jockey Andrews' objection. Consequently, it overruled the objection and declared Jockey Andrews' deposit forfeited. An inquiry will be opened into why HARD CORE and MASTERFUL had to ease at approximately the 1300m.
