THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALTER EGO (D Ashby) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LEMON 'N LIME (J Bekker) dislodged the rider en route to the start, causing a delay. Taking into account the weather conditions on the day, the Stewards did not place any sanction on this gelding. b) Steady rain fell during the running of this race. c) Approaching the 1000m, SHANGAAN (R Khathi), which raced green on the bend, had to steady when tightened for galloping room on the inside of TICKET TO RIDE (A Domeyer) and WORDSWORTH (G Cheyne) which had rolled in away from THE GATEKEEPER (R Fourie), which raced green. d) Jockey G Cheyne, the rider of WORDSWORTH, reported that this colt did not act in the soft underfoot conditions. e) After the running of this race, the Jockeys lodged a protest. In terms of Rule 5.2.3 with regards to the underfoot conditions. A panel was formed and after hearing all the evidence, a unanimous decision was taken to abandon the remainder of the meeting. f) TICKET TO RIDE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
