RIKITIKITANA and GREAT RUMPUS were slow into stride. ASHTON PARK lost one length. RIKITIKITANA and CELTIC CAPTAIN were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ROYAL NAVY SHIP (USA) pulling hard, difficult to assist, shifted out approaching the 1300 metre mark, carrying STORMY ECLIPSE outwards, resulting in STORMY ECLIPSE having to be eased. Jockey Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with LUNAR APPROACH approaching the 600-metre mark and as a result, he eased his mount out of the Race. Jockey Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with GREAT RUMPUS in running and as a result, he did not persevere with his mount in the latter stages. STORMY ECLIPSE shifted out slightly approaching the 250-metre mark, carrying BUDAPEST outwards. In view of the performances of MR ROY and ROYAL NAVY SHIP (USA), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses. SYLVESTER THE CAT raced without a tongue tie. Vet: LUNAR APPROACH - Bi-lateral epistaxis, this colt is suspended from racing for a period of 60 days. GREAT RUMPUS and MR ROY - nothing obvious detected. ROYAL NAVY SHIP (USA) - speedy cut right hind, not striding out right hind.
