COCK-A-HOOP jumped awkwardly losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. BOLDLY RESPECTABLE pulled hard in the early and middle stages. At about the 300m RINJANI (AUS), which shifted in, and AFRICAN NIGHT SKY, which shifted out, brushed. Thereafter leaving the 200m RINJANI (AUS) shifted in slightly and brushed AFRICAN NIGHT SKY. In the concluding stages, AFRICAN NIGHT SKY shifted out. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review and Jockey Fourie, the rider of AFRICAN NIGHT SKY, declared 2nd placed horse, lodged an Objection against the winner, RINJANI (AUS), on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Board, after reviewing the patrol films and considering the evidence heard, was of the opinion that but for the reported interference AFRICAN NIGHT SKY would not have finished ahead of RINJANI (AUS) and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges' result to stand. The deposit was refunded. RINJANI (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Scratched: LEE'S STAR - sold to Mauritius.
