SUN AT MIDNIGHT and BAQUEIRA were slow into stride. SUN AT MIDNIGHT and BAQUEIRA brushed on two occasions shortly after the start. Jockey Cheyne reported that RUSTAR DHOW did not stride out freely in the latter stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance from KWANDO today, compared to her previous two races on 1 November 2016 at Kenilworth over 1400m, and 10 December 2016 at Kenilworth over 1400m, when the filly finished 10.55 lengths and 8.90 lengths behind the winners, Stable Employee Wrensch, acting on behalf of Trainer Sheehan, told the Stewards that the filly had over-raced in the early stages of her last race and had failed to run on in the latter stages. He explained on 1 November the filly had raced wide on the bend against stronger company. The Board reviewed the two races in question and confirmed the explanation offered by Mr Wrensch. He further explained that in his opinion the filly is better suited to the 1200m. The Board will monitor this filly's future performances. KWANDO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: RUSTAR DHOW - returned blowing. Scratched: ELUSIVE STARS - insufficient recovery time.
