The start of the 9th Race was delayed due to the delay to the start of Race 8. WAVEBREAKER and RISKY ROSCO were both slow into stride. HO'OPONOPONO and WINTER AURALIUS both lost 1 length. KING DJANGO was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GREAT EXPECTATIONS over-raced in the early stages. At approximately the 800 metre mark GOOD TO GIVE easing back into the field, shifted in carrying APOLLO'S GIFT inwards, resulting in APOLLO'S GIFT and ZLOTY POTOK making contact and both these horses becoming cramped and having to be eased. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. WINTER AURALIUS was carried out early in the straight and thereafter was switched in to obtain a clear run near the 200-metre mark. Scratched: BUSTER BROWN - bruised right fore foot. ROY'S AMBASSADOR (AUS) - insufficient recovery time (raced 30.12.2016). TEPPANYAKI - insufficient recovery time (raced 26.12.2016). The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed.
